Careers

Career and pathways Guidance at Forest Hill College is integrated across the curriculum from years 7 - 12, with the most extensive involvement being in the senior years.

During years 7-9 students increase their awareness of themselves and the variety and nature of the world of work across their studies. They begin to accumulate documentation such as awards and reports which may be of use to them later in obtaining part- time employment or in the Career/work education/ pathways activities.

Work Education is integrated into the Year 10 curriculum with all students. All year 10 student receive a copy of the 'Job Guide' to assist their pathways investigations.

Students undertake Work Experience as part of their course to expand their pathways horizons.


Careers Guidance and Counselling


At Forest Hill College a student receives Career Counselling and Pathways Guidance from the professionally qualified College Careers & Pathways Manager, the Managed Individual Pathways (MIPS) consultant, and through the college vocational education studies program at Year 9/10 by experienced teachers.

Learning Opportunities

Forest Hill College offers to it's student a comprehensive range of VCE (Victorian Certificate of Education) studies, many VET (Vocational Education and Training) courses and VCAL (Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning) in order to cater for all student interests. We are a nationally 'Registered Training Organisation' (RTO) in the provision of Information Technology, Multimedia and Cisco.

Student Careers Reference Centre

Forest Hill College provides a well resourced 'College Student Careers Reference Centre available for students to investigate their career interests. The centre includes all university, TAFE and private provider handbooks, class sets of career related books (such as the Job Guide, TAFE Courses Directory and VTAC Guides amongst many other publications).

There are also computers with internet connections for use in accessing career related web-sites such as www.myfuture.edu.au or to assist students in writing their personal resume and job applications.

There is a College Career Homepage with yearly calendar, advertisement of current job and training offers for student and links to careers related websites. The Australian Job & Course Explorer (OZJAC), outlining 547 jobs and 4014 courses, is available to all students on the intranet including outside of school and complements the 'myfuture' website.
