Diatribe

It's time to put your mouth in gear for your Tribe!

Do you have a way with words?  Can you talk your way out of any situation?  Do you win every argument in your household?  Then it's time to put all of those skills into practice at Diatribe!

In the second week of term four, the Tribes will face off against each other in a nail-biting competition of wit and words to see who is the best debater.

Levels

There will be two levels of debating in Diatribe: Junior and Senior.

Junior Debaters - tribe members from years 7-9.
Senior Debaters - tribe members from years 10-12.

The Rules of Diatribe

• The first team is named "Affirmative", the second is named "Negative".

• Speeches are between 2-3 minutes for Junior Debaters and 3-4 minutes for Senior Debaters.

• Standard debating rules and roles apply: points will be awarded for matter, manner and method.

• Tribe points will be awarded for the most memorable Chairperson - the person who introduces the team members in the most interesting, dynamic, humorous or creative manner.  You can act, rap, rhyme, dress up, be a mock reporter... you choose!

When is it all happening?

The first rounds of Diatribe are taking place on the 13th and 15th of October.  The finals will be held the week after on the 19th and 20th of October.  More details are below.

First round - 13th of October

Junior Level
