General Curriculum
Forest Hill College offers a curriculum that provides a comprehensive program of academic and vocational studies complemented by a large range of extracurricular activities and enhancement opportunities. Courses are based on:
The Victorian Essential Learning Standards (VELS) - Years 7-10
The Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) - Years 11 -12
The Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) - Years 11-12
Year 11-12 students can also take up one or more of the Vocational Education and Training (VET) programs offered by the College as part of their VCE or VCAL program. Eligible Year 10 students also have access to VCE studies and Vocational Education and Training programs. The eligibility of Year 10 students for these programs is assessed by their teachers and parents or guardians.
Education Support Groups
All government schools must make arrangements that enable local students with impairments and disabilities to participate in the education programs and social life of mainstream schools.Forest Hill College provides support and resources to those students from our local area who receive funding to meet their specific needs.
This support provides students with the opportunity to experience success academically and socially and to maximize their potential in the classroom and with their peers.
The process of integration is conducted and enhanced by the team approach, which is the focus of Student Support Groups (SSGs). A SSG or VCE Support Group is formed for each student in the program and comprises the Principal or nominee, a nominated teacher, the student, the student’s parents, a parent advocate and consultants as invited.
