Ready to race at the Swimming CarnivalThroughout the Year

College Swimming Carnival is a popular event on the college calendar drawing a large field of participants. Events are held in freestyle, butterfly, back-stroke and diving. A large number of students move on to the district sports with successful competitors moving on to zone competition.

The College Athletics Carnival is a whole school activity held at a local professional athletics track and featuring a full round of track and field events.  Students who qualify are then able to go on to district, zone and even state finals.
All participants in both Swimming and Athletic Carnivals receive Tribe points for participation and achievement.  Students dress in their Tribe colours for both of these events in order to encourage and support their teams.

Throughout the year district round robins are held in most sports at levels 5, 6 and later years. Training for these teams is held either at lunchtimes or after school. Both staff and students coach these teams.

Elite Fitness Squad

The Elite Fitness Squad (EFS) is a program devised to offer students the opportunity to train and compete with high goals and expectations.  It is important to note that all abilities are welcomed with the goal of elite fitness for the individual in mind.  Forest Hill College sport has improved and progressed in both participation and sporting achievement in recent years.  This has been attributed to staff dedication and a greater commitment and willingness for students to be involved.  Therefore the decision to implement a program offering students the chance to excel with their fitness and sporting endeavours has been made.

The EFS trains on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings at 7.30am with students from all age groups and abilities encouraged to participate.  The program consisits of a range of different training methods including circuit training, sprint sessions, aerobic and anaerobic training (interval, fartlek and continuous), core work and a small amount of weight training.  A range of methods are incorporated into the program to allow for a range of activities and specifity depending on the students goals and interests.  The program is run by qualified staff in the field, with the support of a select group of Forest Hill College later year students.
