Years 10, 11 & 12

Years 10, 11 & 12 students and Level Managers are physically based around two adjacent courtyard areas.  Assisting in their welfare roles are a Student Wellbeing Coordinator, Chaplain, part-time Adolescent Health Nurse and Home Group Teachers.  An Assistant Principal also supports Year 10, 11 & 12 students. A full time Careers and Pathways Manager ensures the students have the most up-to-date information on career pathways and further training and educational opportunities.

The College fosters an adult learning environment that encourages students to strive for their best academic achievements whilst preparing them for tertiary studies or the workforce.

The large population of students  enables the College to offer a full range of VCE units. In order to provide students with the best range of educational opportunities available the College also offers the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning and a range of VET programs.

Student Support

Students are expected to demonstrate a mature and responsible approach to their own learning. Highly experienced teachers with extensive knowledge and experience in their subject areas play the key role in assisting students to achieve. The student Code of Conduct outlines the behaviours expected of students, their rights, responsibilities, and the consequences if a student's behaviour interferes with the learning and welfare of others, or compromises the good order of the school.


Curriculum

The Senior School curriculum for Year 10 students is based around the  introduction of The Victorian Essential Learning Strands (VELS). Year 10 students also have access to VCE studies, with many students taking up this option.

Years 11 and 12 students can undertake the Victorian Certificate of Education or the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning. In either of these certificates students have the option of also choosing Vocational Education and Training studies offered by the College.

At each Year level study skills and examination workshops are held. Year 12 students attend a two day residential VCE preparation program at Latrobe University at the beginning of Tern One each year.

Student Leadership
 

Senior students play a significant leadership role within the College. They are expected to set an example for the younger students and are encouraged to stand for office or join one of the student working groups. Opportunities include:

Membership of the Student Representative Council where they can contribute to decision-making, put forward the views of senior school students, discuss educational issues, help with fund-raising for community welfare and College projects, participate in leadership activities, and represent the College publicly.

Nominating for the posts of College Captains, Senior Sport Captains, and Senior Instrumental Music Captains.

Becoming Peer Support Leaders for the new intake of Year 7 students.

Further opportunities for student leadership occur during the year, including Open, Information and Presentation Nights; leadership roles in Musical and Theatrical productions, Sports coaching and umpiring; planning team for the Basketball Marathon; Parent-Teacher-Student Interview guides; and Theatre Technicians. As well students are given responsibility for a number of tasks that ensure the smooth operation of the College

Instumental Music, Theatrical Produtions, and Sport

Senior students who have been learning an instrument are encouraged to continue in the Instrumental Music Program. Through their experience they provide a core around which whole school bands and ensembles are formed.

Musical and Theatrical Productions are a key feature of College life. All senior school students are encouraged to audition for these productions, or volunteer as part of backstage, construction or lighting crews.

Senior school students are encouraged to become involved in the range of sporting activities offered by the college. The College is part of the Victorian State Schools Sports Association (VSSSA) and competes in the Nunawading District Group of Schools
